Barnstable High School Athletic Hall of Fame Calling for 2008 Nominations
The Barnstable High School Athletic Hall of Fame is now seeking nominations for the 2008 induction class, with a deadline of May 1, 2008 for all nominations. Nomination forms may be found at www.redraiderpride.com/halloffame and mailed to: BHS Athletic Hall of Fame Nominations Committee, PO Box 960, Marstons Mills, MA 02648. Former student-athletes to be considered for induction must have graduated a minimum of 10 years ago. The earliest qualified class for nominations is the BHS Class of 1999. Coaches to be considered for induction must be separated from the school for a minimum of five years. If you have any questions, please email bhsgridiron2004@aol.com.


Baseball Tournament Open for Local Teams in Cooperstown, NY
The Blue Jays Baseball Club will be holding its 7th annual exhibition series near Cooperstown, NY for high school varsity teams in late April and mid-May. The club is also hosting three-game tournaments for summer teams in the 13U, 14U, 15U, 16U and 18U age groups. Trophies and medallions will be awarded. Silver Bullets to Hold Registration
The Barnstable Silver Bullets and Barnstable Youth Football, Inc. will hold registration for players age 8-13 on Wednesday, April 16, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Kennedy Rink in Hyannis. Players should bring a copy of their birth certificate. If you need more information, please contact Kim Christian at 508-737-4502 or visit www.barnstablesilverbullets.org. The fee to play for one player is $250. Families with two siblings registering will be discounted to $225 each. Families with three players will be discounted to $200 each. Registrants may also pay online at the Silver Bullets’ web site through July 31, 2008.
The Bullets will field three teams this season, Div. 1 Mites (8-9s), Div. 1 Pee Wees (10-11s) and Div. 1 Midgets (12-13s).
Yarmouth Rec to Host High School-Level Pick-up Hoop Games at Mattacheese Middle School Gym
The Yarmouth Recreation Department will run open high school basketball pickup games on Wednesday nights through April 30 (with no games April 9 or April 23). These pickup games will run from 7-9:00 p.m. at the Mattacheese Middle School. Cost is $3 per night and players must show school ID or proof of age. Students under age 18 need a signed consent form (which can be downloaded at www.yarmouth.ma.us) from their parents or guardians. Girls Lacrosse Clinics to be Held at Barnstable High School
The Barnstable High School girls lacrosse team will hold clinics on Tuesday, April 22, Thursday, April 24 and Saturday, April 26 for girls in grades 5-8 on the high school’s Lower Field (behind the varsity baseball field). The clinics will be run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and will cost $10 per participant. Bring sticks and goggles if you have them. Some are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Kayak & Swim Against the Tide Coming This Summer

The Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition hopes that you will join us for this summer's Against the Tide events to support efforts towards breast cancer prevention. Register today for these fun, half-day events! Ask family, co-workers and friends to register along with you. You can participate in one, two or all three events - all ages and thletic abilities are welcome. When: Saturday, June 21, 2008. Where: Hopkinton State Park, Hopkinton, MA, and also on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Nickerson State Park, Brewster.
The Coalition is offering a free open-water swim clinic with Ironman Karen Smyers at Hopkinton State Park on June 5th at 6 PM for those who may want tips on their swim technique or other pointers from this seasoned swimmer. Karen will be available to help swim participants learn how to maneuver buoys, offer swimming tips, and discuss equipment options. To participate in the clinic, please register in advance by calling 1-800-649-6222 or by emailing info@mbcc.org.

Softball Umpires Needed
Slo-pitch softball umpires and Little League baseball umpires are needed for the upcoming season. The season runs from April through August. Anyone interested in becoming an umpire should call Al Faria at 508-398-0138.
Dennis Women’s Softball League To Hold Open Registration
Get out of the house, meet new friends and exercise! The Dennis Women’s Softball League will hold a pre-season registration meeting on Tuesday, April 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the small hearing room, downstairs at Dennis Town Hall, 485 Main Street, Dennis. Youth Football Camp Coming to Hyannis This Summer with Coach Paul “Spanky” Demanche
Former Barnstable High School head football coach Paul “Spanky” Demanche, now the head football coach at Pope John Paul II High School in Hyannis, will be holding the Cape Cod Youth Football Camp, July 21-24, from 4:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pope John Paul II High School football field, 120 High School Road, Hyannis, for players age 8-14.
The fee before June 15, 2008 will be $75 and after June 15, $85. Deadline to register is July 14. Registration forms can be downloaded at http://www.barnstablesilverbullets.org or at www.pjp2hs.org.
