Upsets Undefeated Mattacheese
Thanks
to an incredible effort by righty D.J. Crook and an incredible hitting
display by his teammates, Barnstable Middle School romped over previously
undefeated Mattacheese Middle School Friday (May 11), 9-3.
Crook turned in a complete-game win on the mound, striking out 12
batters in 7 innings of work. He also tripled and singled (2-3)
and collected two RBI.
Catcher WIll Sullivan also went 2-3 with 2 RBI. Third baseman Pete
Liimatainen didn't have any hits but he turned in three runs batted
in. Dennis Reddy went 2-2 with a double. Everett Walsh went 1-1
with an RBI. Denny Beynor went 2-2, Justin Blaze had one hit and
Rick Panton went 1-2 with a basehit.
Connor McShera made a beautiful diving grab in centerfield for Barnstable
and fired the ball to second base to end a Mattacheese rally in
the bottom of the fifth. He also went 1-2 at the plate.
Guimond
Takes BMS Gridiron Helm
Barnstable
High School freshmen basketball coach and longtime BHS and Barnstable
Middle School coach Gibby Guimond has been hired to take over as
head coach of the Barnstable Middle School Football team in the
fall of 2007.
Guimond, well-liked and respected throughout the community, takes
over for Barnstable High School alum and BMS math teacher Nelson
Belanger who has coached in Barnstable for over 35 years.

School Boys Turn It On Vs. Mashpee
Ahead
1-0 early on, then down 3-1, the Barnstable Middle School boys came
back to tie it up at 3-3.
Deadlocked at 3-3, Everett Walsh led off the 5th with a single,
followed by Will Sullivan and Kyle Mahoney when relief pitcher Doug
Crook launched a 335-foot double to center and the rest was history.
Crook picked up the in in relief of Sullivan in a fine effort, allowing
just one run. Crook also played exceptionally well in rightfield
before coming into relieve.
