Finn's Name Will Surely Never Be Forgotten

Frank Finn led a good life and he spent his lifetime dedicated to heralding the achievements of every possible person he could, athletes from age 5 to 85. Frank didn't care if it was a home run in T-Ball or a grand slam by a Cotuit Kettleer. Everyone shared recognition on the pages of his Cape Cod Sports Report.

Now, it seems, virtually every organization that graced Frank's newsprint is doing the man some justice.

First up to the plate was the Barnstable Silver Bullets, operated by Barnstable Youth Football, Inc. on March 18.

Since 1992, the Silver Bullets has given one award at the close of each season -- the William "Red" Dacey Jr. Award. Now, the Silver Bullets will, at the close of each season, award six Frank R. Finn Jr. Memorial Sportsmanship Awards.

The next group to recognize Frank's good name was Barnstable Little League on April 28. On Opening Day for the 2007 Barnstable Little League season, it was announced that the annual Tom Wallace Awards would be re-named after Frank Finn. It appears that the Wallace family -- close friends of Frank's -- felt strongly that the award should be re-named in Finn's honor. "He would have been so proud," said Cape Cod Sports Report Publisher Cathy Finn. "He would literally be brought to tears each year he covered the Tom Wallace Awards."

And today it was announced that the Cape Cod Baseball League will re-name its annual invitiational tryouts after Finn.

Frank Finn's name will never be forgotten. His efforts were not wasted. His life, was a good life.
